Mount Musala and Seven Rila Lakes

Bulgaria is famous for its spa resorts and lovely Black Sea coastline.  But a large number of tourists visit our country during the winter as well. Our winter resorts offer a wide range of facilities, excellent skiing facilities and reasonable prices. During the last few decades many tourists have been attracted by our nature- high mountains, beautiful lakes and fresh air. One of the most famous places is Rila Mountain. Large part of it is a national park, home to numerous very rare animal species and amazing mountain peaks. The Seven Rila Lakes region is a popular place for thousands of visitors. The itinerary of this excursion includes a trekking trip to mount Musala-the highest peak in the Balkan Peninsula, trip to all Sevel Rila Lakes, accommodation at spa hotels and optional tours of many heritage and cultural sites.

Day 1

Arrival at Sofia Airport. Panoramic tour of Sofia- Alexander Nevski Cathedral with the crypt- the biggest icon collection in Bulgaria, Alexander Battenberg Monument, the Parliament, Ivan Vazov National Theatre, St Sofia Church, St George Church. An optional visit of Boyana Church. Accommodation at 5* hotel. In the evening- dinner at a traditional folk style restaurant with wine tasting (optional). Overnight.

Day 2

Breakfast. Departure to Panichishte – the entrance of the Rila Seven Lakes. En route – a short stop by Rila Monastery – the biggest monastery in Bulgaria. Accommodation at 3* hotel. Overnight.

Day 3

Breakfast. Transfer to the lift station to Rila Seven Lakes. A guided tour of all seven lakes. Transfer to the hotel. Overnight.

Day  4

Breakfast. Departure to Borovets – one of the most famous Bulgarian winter resorts. Accommodation at 4* hotel. Overnight.

Day 5

Breakfast. Free time or trekking trip to mount Musala with lunch and mountain tea included. Overnight.

Day 6

Breakfast. A half-day trip to Tsarska Bistritsa – a former royal palace served as the hunting lodge of Tsar Ferdinand of Bulgaria and his son Boris III. In the afternoon – picnic at Beli Iskar Park. Overnight.

Day 7

Breakfast.Free time or half-day trip to Samokov – Church of the Dormition of the Holy Mother of God, Bayrakli Mosque and Samokov History Museum. Overnight.

Day 8

Breakfast. Departure to Sofia. Transfer to the airport and fly back home.
