01 Day Guatemala City
Welcome at Aurora airport. Meet and greet with our guide and transfer to the hotel. The city is the most modern and cosmopolitan in Central America. The Historical centre with its cathedrals, historic buildings and museums is a reflection of the country's history. Overnight at Hotel Radisson & Suites Guatemala City (4*) or similar.
02 Day Guatemala - Copan (Honduras)
Early morning departure to Honduras. After immigration procedures, we will arrive at Copán archaeological site. This archaeological site dates from the classic period and was considered the political center of the Mayan world. The city was discovered by the archaeologist Alfred P. Maudslay in 1881 and is located in a small valley surrounded by mountains. We will visit La Plaza de Ceremonias, whose steps were used by the inhabitants to participate in celebrations and rites (it’s estimated that the square could hold up to 50,000 spectators), the Escala de Geroglíficos (which had about 2,500 entries distributed among La Tribuna de Espectadores), Escala de los Jaguares and Temple 22. Overnight in Copan.
03 Day Copan - Quirigua - Livingston
After breakfast, departure to Quiriguá archaeological site, located on the banks of the Motagua River. This small site comprises a complex of carved stelae, giant monoliths carved in volcanic stone, among which is the highest stela of the Mayan world, which measures more than 10.60 meters high. After lunch (not included), we continue towards Puerto Barrios, from here we will take a boat transfer to Livingston, sailing across Amatique Bay. Overnight in Livingston.
04 Day Livingston - Flores
After breakfast we will enjoy a brief tour around Livingston village.This town is completely different from all the other village towns in Guatemala, as it is populated by Garífunas who have their origin in the island of Sain Vincent, where in centuries past, the African slaves mingled with the natives. Livingston has a special charm thanks to its ideal location in Rio Dulce and its characteristic music that is heard on every corner. After the tour, we will board a boat to sail to Rio Dulce. During the journey you can admire the wonderful vegetation of this region until we arrive at Lake Izabal, Guatemala’s largest, where you will have a panoramic view of the Castillo de San Felipe de Lara, a fortress built in the XVII century by the Spanish, to protect the warehouses located on the shores of the lake. Disembark at the Rio Dulce town village, time for lunch (not included) and then continue to Flores by land. Overnight in Flores.
05 Day Flores - Tikal - Guatemala City
Departure to Tikal Archaeological Park named “Place of Voices”, which was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The majestic Maya city is considered one the largest and most monumental of all the sites discovered in the Mayan World.
Enjoy a guided tour of the arenas, monuments and major temples, while admiring the rainforest habitat of hundreds of exotic birds and a wide variety of wild animals. In the afternoon, after lunch (not included), we transfer to Flores airport and depart for Guatemala City (the ticket is not included in the package price). Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Overnight at Hotel Radisson & Suites Guatemala City (4*) or similar.
06 Day Guatemala city - Chichicastenango - Lake Atitlan
Departure to Chichicastenango town village, where every Thursday and Sunday, the inhabitants of the region gather to buy and sell fruit, vegetables, flowers, seeds, animals, textiles and handicrafts, making it the most colorful and picturesque market in Guatemala. We will also visit the local Church of Santo Tomás, where the Maya-Quiche natives celebrate their traditional rites. After lunch (not included), we continue towards Lake Atitlán. Overnight in Atitlan.
07 Day Atitlan lake - Antigua
Departure by boat to Santiago Atitlán town village, while admiring the three volcanoes that surround on Departure by boat to Santiago Atitlán town, while admiring the three volcanoes that surround one of the 10 most beautiful lakes in the world. In Santiago, we will visit the place of worship of Saint Maximon, a clear example of the mixture of pagan rituals with the Catholic religion. In the afternoon, after lunch (not included), transfer to Panajachel to continue towards to Antigua. Overnight in Antigua.
08 Day Antigua
After breakfast depart to visit this wonderful city. Walking in Antigua is like stepping back in time..... cobblestone streets, Bougainvillea falling from ruined buildings, colorful walls with characteristics balconies, brick ceilings, parks with fountains and a spectacular landscape at the foot of three volcanoes: Agua (Water), Fuego (Fire) and Acatenango. These are some of the reasons that make Antigua one of the most beautiful colonial cities in the Americas and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The tour begins with a visit to the historic center of Antigua, starting at the Central Park and visiting the major monuments. After lunch (not included) we will visit the villages of San Juan del Obispo, a small village famous for holding one of the first Catholic churches in Guatemala and Santa Maria de Jesús, a village located under the slopes of Volcán de Agua that has at its central square, a temple built in the XVII century.
